Summary:
A group of six childhood friends drift apart after one of them, Meiko "Menma" Honma, dies in an accident. Ten years after the incident, the leader of the group, Jinta Yadomi, has withdrawn from society and lives as a recluse. One summer day, the ghost of an older looking Menma appears before him and asks to have a wish granted, reasoning that she cannot pass on into the afterlife until it is fulfilled. Since Menma does not remember what her wish is, Jinta gathers his estranged friends together once again, believing that they are the key to resolving this problem. However, hidden feelings, internal conflicts, and lingering feelings of bitterness from Menma's parents result in complications for the group as they struggle to help not only Menma move on, but themselves as well.

I really think that this show was really touching (damn I cried a lot). It shows how humans can go to extreme measures for love.

I think that the idea for this anime was really unique. I've never actually see an anime of this genre get to this high level of interest. I think it's partly because they never really balance the sad part out with the other logical happy things in life. I also think that the in-cooperation of the different life of the 6 different people was really good. I liked how they slowly showed their true feelings towards the main girl (menma).

Though I think they should have made this a 12 episode anime, with more childhood scenes. Since the whole incident actually started when they were a child, I think that the childhood time was really important towards all of them. So I think that they should have put in more childhood scenes. Mini clips between the different episodes would have made the anime a lot more interesting. Or every episode at the start of the episode would have been nice.
I also didn't really like the way that they have spread the anime over. I didn't really liked how the front half the anime being almost 8-9 episode, and the next part being only 2-3. it really makes the anime a little off balance.

*Movie coming up!

Nice art. The drawing is cute. In the anime, the characters don't look stiff. Really loved the way they animate the hair.
